Trade name: Luofen
English name:Oxfendazole Granules
Pinyin: Aofendazuo Keli
[Main Ingredients] Oxfendazole
[Description] This drug is of off-white granules.
[Pharmacological Action] Antihelmintic. Oxfendazole possesses a wide range of anthelmintic activity targeting nematodes, tapeworms, and trematodes, but it does not work against schistosomes. Its mode of action involves binding to the tubulin proteins of susceptible parasites, inhibiting their ability to polymerize with α-tubulin and form microtubules, which in turn impacts the worms' cellular processes such as mitosis, protein assembly, and energy metabolism that are essential for their reproduction. Oxfendazole is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The drug has an elimination half-life of about 7.5 hours in sheep and 2.5 hours in goats. Post-absorption, oxfendazole is converted into its active metabolite, fenbendazole sulfone.
