[Veterinary Drug Name]

Generic name: Triclabendazole Granules

Trade name: Kalong

English name: Triclabendazole Granules

Pinyin: Sanlübendazuo Keli

[Main Ingredients] 5-Chloro-6- (2,3-dichlorophenoxy) -2-methylthio-1H-benzimidazole

[Description] This drug is of off-white granules.

[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: As a benzimidazole drug, triclabendazole is specifically used against fasciola hepatica. Due to its significant killing effect on liver flukes of various ages, it is an ideal drug for killing liver flukes. After drug absorption, by interfering with the microtubule structure and function of the parasite, this drug can inhibit the release of hydrolytic proteases from the parasite. The effect of triclabendazole on insects varies with concentration. For example, adults can survive for 24 hours in low concentrations (1-3 μg/ml) of the drug, while their activity is significantly reduced in high concentrations (10-25 μg/ml) after 24 hours. In high concentrations (25-50 μg/ml), the activity is completely inhibited after 24 hours. However, this drug is more sensitive to childhood worms. At a concentration of 10 μg/ml, the activity is completely inhibited after 24 hours.

Pharmacokinetics: The bioavailability of triclabendazole is relatively high. After oral administration of 10mg/kg body weight to goats and sheep, the peak blood drug concentration reached 15 μg/ml within 24-36 hours. The peak blood drug value of triclabendazole and its metabolites is 5-20 times that of other benzimidazole insecticides, and the elimination half-life is about 22 hours. Triclabendazole is mostly oxidized into sulfone and sulfoxide derivatives in sheep and rats, which bind to albumin and persist in plasma for more than 7 days. High plasma concentration and binding with plasma albumin seem to be associated with prolonging the duration of action of anti-fasciola drugs. After 10 days of medication in sheep, about 95% of the drug is excreted through feces, 2% through urine, and less than 1% through breast milk.

[Function and Use] Benzimidazole anti-fluke drug, for the prevention and treatment of cattle and sheep liver fluke infections.

[Dosage and Administration] On the basis of this drug. Oral administration: 0.12g/time per 1kg of body weight for cattle, 0.1g/time per 1kg of body weight for sheep. The drug should be repeated once after 5 weeks to treat acute liver fluke disease.

[Adverse Reaction] No adverse reactions have been observed with the proper use of the recommended dosage and administration.

[Precautions] (1) For cows and sheep that produce milk for human consumption, this drug should not be used during their lactation period.

(2) Due to the high toxicity of this drug to fish, residual drugs and containers should not contaminate water sources.

(3) For drug allergy sufferers, direct skin contact and inhalation should be avoided during use. Gloves should be worn during the process of taking medication, and eating and smoking are prohibited. After the process of taking medication, hands should be washed.
