[Main Ingredients] Formaldehyde
[Description] This drug is of colorless or almost colorless transparent liquid with a pungent, characteristic odor that can irritate the nasal and throat mucosa; it tends to become turbid when stored in cold conditions for an extended period.
[Pharmacological Action] Formaldehyde can kill bacterial propagules, spores (such as anthrax spores), Mycobacterium tuberculosis, viruses, and fungi. Formaldehyde is highly irritating to the skin and mucous membranes but does not damage metals, fur, textiles, or rubber. Besides, formaldehyde has poor penetration and is not easily effective deep within objects. Formaldehyde also has a persistent nature; after disinfection, ventilation or rinsing with water should be carried out immediately. The irritating odor of formaldehyde does not dissipate easily, so the space only needs to be relatively sealed during disinfection.
[Function and Use] Aldehyde disinfectant and antiseptic, primarily used for fumigation disinfection of stables, and also used for fermentation control in the gastrointestinal tract.
[Dosage and Administration] On the basis of this drug. Fumigation disinfection: 15ml/m3. Oral administration: 8-25ml/time for cattle; 1-3ml/time for sheep. When administering orally, it should be diluted 20-30 times with water.
[Adverse Reaction] It has a strong irritating effect on animal skin and mucous membranes.
[Precautions] (1) After disinfection, a layer of corrosive film forms on the surface of objects.
(2) If an animal accidentally ingests a formaldehyde solution, diluted ammonia water should be quickly administered for detoxification.
(3) If the solution contaminates the skin, it is needed to immediately wash with soap and water.
[Withdrawal Period] It is not required.
