[Description] This drug is of yellow transparent liquid.

[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: Berberine, classified as a broad-spectrum antibiotic, exhibits antimicrobial activity against a wide range of bacteria, including both Gram-positive and Gram-negative species. It demonstrates potent inhibitory effects on bacteria such as Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio cholerae, Neisseria meningitidis, Shigella spp., Salmonella typhi, and Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Additionally, it shows some inhibitory activity against influenza viruses, amoebas, Leptospira, and certain dermatophytes. In vitro studies have confirmed that berberine can strengthen the phagocytic capacity of leukocytes and the liver’s reticuloendothelial system. However, bacteria like Shigella spp., Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus are highly susceptible to developing resistance to berberine.

Pharmacokinetics: Upon administration, this drug is quickly absorbed into the systemic circulation and extensively distributed across multiple organs and tissues, with particularly high levels observed in the heart, bones, lungs, and liver. The duration of its residence within tissue is relatively brief. Following intramuscular injection, the blood concentration of the drug can reach levels effective for inhibiting bacteria, which is indicative of its applicability in treating infections that affect the entire body.

[Function and Use] Antibacterial drug, for bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract.

[Dosage and Administration] Intramuscular injection: 7.5-20ml for horses and cattle, and 2.5-5ml for sheep and pigs.

[Adverse Reaction] No adverse reactions have been observed with the proper use of the recommended dosage and administration.

[Precautions] Intravenous injection of this drug is contraindicated. If crystallization occurs at low temperatures, the drug should be immersed in hot water, shaken vigorously until the crystals dissolve to form a clear solution, and then cooled to body temperature before administration.

[Withdrawal Period] It is not required.
