[Veterinary Drug Name]
Generic name: Paracetamol Injection
Trade name: Nuoke
English name: Paracetamol Injection
Pinyin: Duiyixian’anjifen Zhusheye
[Main Ingredients] Paracetamol
[Description] This drug is of colorless or almost colorless and slightly viscous transparent liquid.
[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: Paracetamol can help people cool down, ease pain and eliminate inflammation. The cooling effect is similar to that of aspirin, but its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect is weaker. It has a stronger effect on inhibiting thalamic prostaglandin synthesis and release, but a weaker effect on inhibiting peripheral prostaglandin synthesis and release. This drug demonstrates no impact on platelets or the coagulation mechanism. It is mainly used as an analgesic antipyretic for small and medium-sized animals, for the treatment of fever, myalgia, joint pain and rheumatism.
Pharmacokinetics: This drug is quickly absorbed after oral administration and the serum concentration peaks after 30 minutes. It is mainly metabolized in the liver and a large proportion is bound to glucuronic acid or sulfuric acid and then discharged via kidneys. In the liver, a partial drug experiences deacetylation and produces p-aminophenol which is later oxidized, resulting in iminoquinone. Iminoquinone can oxidize hemoglobins in vivo, causing the loss of oxygen-carrying capacity. Adverse reactions such as histohypoxia, cyanosis, erythrocatalysis, jaundice and liver damage may occur.
[Function and Use] Analgesic antipyretic, for the treatment of fever, myalgia, joint pain and rheumatism.
[Dosage and Administration] Intramuscular injection: 50-100ml/time for horses and cattle; 5-20ml/time for sheep; 5-10ml/time for pigs; 1-5ml/time for dogs.
[Adverse Reaction] Anorexia, vomiting, hypoxia, cyanosis, erythrocatalysis, jaundice and liver damage may occur occasionally.
[Precautions] (1) It is prohibited for cats as severe toxic reactions may arise from the administration.
(2) A large dose may damage the liver and kidneys, and the use of acetylcysteine or methionine within 12 hours after the administration can prevent liver damage. Affected animals with liver and kidney dysfunction and young animals should use it with caution.
[Withdrawal Period] It is not required.
