[Description] This drug is of colorless to faint yellow or faint yellow-green transparent liquid.
[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: Lincomycin belongs to lincosamide antibacterial agent and acts as a bacteriostatic agent. It is effective against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillin-resistant strains), Streptococcus, pneumococcus, Bacillus anthracis, certain Mycoplasma species, Leptospira, and anaerobic bacteria (such as Fusobacterium, Clostridium tetani, Clostridium perfringens and most Actinomyces, etc.). It exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting protein synthesis through acting on the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, thus affecting the elongation of the peptide chain.
Pharmacokinetics: After intramuscular injection, it is rapidly absorbed, with a plasma protein binding rate of 57%–72%. It is widely distributed throughout the body, reaching effective concentrations in most tissues, pleural fluid, ascitic fluid, and synovial fluid. Particularly high concentrations are found in bone tissue, but it cannot cross the blood-brain barrier to enter cerebrospinal fluid. It can cross the placenta and be distributed into milk. It is primarily metabolized in the liver and excreted through bile and feces, with a small amount excreted in urine.
[Drug Interaction] (1) When used together with gentamicin, it has a synergistic effect on Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus.
(2) When used together with aminoglycosides and polypeptide antibiotics, it may enhance the blockade of neuromuscular junctions. When combined with erythromycin, there is an antagonistic effect due to the same site of action, with erythromycin having a higher affinity for the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes than this drug.
(3) It is inappropriate to be used together with antidiarrheal drugs that inhibit intestinal motility or contain kaolin.
(4) There are compatibility contraindications with kanamycin, neomycin, etc.
[Function and Use] Lincosamide antibiotic, primarily for the treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria.
[Dosage and Administration] On the basis of lincomycin. Intramuscular injection: 10mg/time per 1kg of body weight for dogs and cats, administered twice a day for 3-5 consecutive days. Alternatively, follow the veterinarian’s instructions.
[Adverse Reaction] It has a neuromuscular blocking effect.
[Precautions] Intramuscular injection administration may cause transient diarrhea or soft stool. Such situation is very rare. However, if it occurs, necessary measures should be taken to prevent dehydration.
[Withdrawal Period] It is not required.
