[Description] This drug is of faint yellow or light yellow transparent liquid.
[Pharmacological Action] Polypeptide antibiotic. Colistin is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic with potent antibacterial activity primarily against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella. Its bactericidal mechanism involves damaging the bacterial cell membrane, increasing its permeability, and causing the leakage of amino acids, purines, pyrimidines, K+, and other bacterial components. It also disrupts nucleic acid and ribosome functions, ultimately leading to bacterial death.
[Function and Use] Polypeptide antibiotic, for the treatment of Escherichia coli infections in suckling piglets.
[Dosage and Administration] Intramuscular injection: 0.1-0.2ml/time per 1kg of body weight for suckling piglets, twice a day, administered for 3-5 consecutive days.
[Adverse Reaction] (1) Systemic application of polymyxin can cause nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and neuromuscular blocking effects.
(2) Co-administration with drugs that can cause renal damage may enhance its toxicity.
[Precautions] (1) This drug should not be used with alkaline substances.
(2) This drug has high toxicity and a narrow safety margin, so it must be used strictly according to the recommended dosage.
