[Main Ingredients] Doxycycline Hyclate
[Description] This drug is of yellow to brownish-yellow transparent liquid.
[Pharmacological Action] Tetracycline antibiotic. Doxycycline reversibly binds to the receptor on the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, and interferes with the formation of the ribosome complex by tRNA and mRNA to inhibit peptide elongation and suppress protein synthesis. This rapidly inhibits the growth and reproduction of bacteria. Besides, doxycycline has an inhibitory effect on both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and it shares cross-resistance with tetracycline and chlortetracycline.
[Function and Use] Tetracycline antibiotics, for the treatment of swine infectious diseases caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as mycoplasma, such as swine mycoplasmal pneumonia, Escherichia coli infections, Salmonella infections, and Pasteurella infections.
[Dosage and Administration] Intramuscular injection: 0.1-0.2 ml/time per 1kg of body weight for pigs. Administered once a day for 2-3 consecutive days.
[Adverse Reaction] (1) Intramuscular injection may cause pain, inflammation, and necrosis at the injection site.
(2) Doxycycline has certain hepatic and renal toxicity; overdosage can lead to severe liver damage, and fatal nephrotoxicity is occasionally observed.
[Precautions] (1) For livestock with severe liver or kidney impairment, this drug should be used with caution.
(2) Due to the potential for these drugs to cross the placental barrier and enter milk, they are contraindicated in pregnant and lactating animals.
[Withdrawal Period] 28 days for pigs.
