[Description] This drug is of white or off-white powder.

[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: Spectinomycin belongs to the aminoglycoside class of antibiotics and has moderate inhibitory effects against various Gram-negative bacilli such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Proteus, etc. It is sensitive to Streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and certain mycoplasmas (such as mycoplasma gallisepticum, mycoplasma meleagridis, mycoplasma synoviae, mycoplasma hyorhinis, mycoplasma hyosynoviae, etc.). However, it is mostly insensitive to Streptococcus viridans and Staphylococcus aureus. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and spirochetes are typically resistant. Although there is widespread resistance among enteric bacteria, cross-resistance with streptomycin does not occur.

Pharmacokinetics After oral administration, only about 7% is absorbed, but it maintains high concentrations in the gastrointestinal tract. Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection results in good absorption, with peak plasma concentrations reached approximately one hour later. Tissue concentrations of the drug are lower than serum concentrations. It does not easily penetrate cerebrospinal fluid or the eye, and its plasma protein binding rate is low. The drug is primarily excreted unchanged via glomerular filtration.

[Drug Interaction] (1) When use together with lincomycin, it can significantly increase antibacterial activity against mycoplasmas and broaden the antimicrobial spectrum.

(2) When Lincomycin is used with anticholinesterase drugs, it can reduce the efficacy of the latter.

(3) When used together with erythromycin, antagonistic effects may occur.

(4) When used together with opioid analgesics, it can prolong respiratory depression or cause respiratory paralysis.

[Function and Use] Aminoglycoside antibiotic, for the treatment of infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria and mycoplasmas.

[Dosage and Administration] On the basis of this drug. Mixed drinking: 1-2g per 1L of water for chickens, administered for 3-5 consecutive days.

[Adverse Reaction] Spectinomycin has relatively low toxicity in animals, rarely causing nephrotoxicity or ototoxicity. However, similar to other aminoglycosides, it can induce neuromuscular blockade.

[Precautions] This drug cannot be used for hens laying eggs for human consumption during the laying period.

[Withdrawal Period] 5 days for chickens.
